UserWorks has ongoing working relationships with a number of associates whose expertise we can draw upon as-needed. These frequent contractors include the following:

Otis Blaumanis, Ph.D.
Dr. Blaumanis is a biomedical engineer and researcher. His background is in Biophysics and Physiology. His areas of expertise and experience include electrical engineering, electronic circuit design, system integration, and software design and development.

Stanley H. Caplan, MS, CHFP
Mr. Caplan is an independent consultant with a strong background in ergonomics and product design. He retired after a 26-year career at Eastman Kodak Company, during which he managed and performed a wide variety of human factors engineering activities. His experience includes product conceptualization, design, and usability evaluation of both consumer and commercial products. Mr. Caplan uses a variety of techniques to capture voice-of-the-customer feedback for driving user-centered design. He is the principal in his own company, Usability Associates.

Joseph DeBor, B.A.
Mr. DeBor is a human factors engineer with many years of experience in industrial human factors and process control simulation, especially in the nuclear power industry. Mr. DeBor is also Vice President of Setech Corporation.

Len Rickman, M.A.
Mr. Rickman is a market researcher with extensive experience in survey research and focus groups. He has collaborated with us on such projects and on a number of usability testing projects. He also has his own company, Rickman Research and Communications.

George M. Samaras, PhD, DSc, PE, CPE
Dr. Samaras is a registered Professional Engineer and a Certified Professional Ergonomist. He is VP, Science & Technology of Samaras & Associates, Inc., a Colorado-based company specializing in technical management consulting and validation engineering for FDA-regulated firms; he has a number of biomedical equipment patents and an extensive list of scientific publications in biomedical research.

Derek Schultz, Ph.D.
Dr. Schultz has a background in experimental psychology and survey research and over 15 years of experience as an independent consultant. His work has spanned a range of telecommunication interfaces and web applications, as well as user documentation projects. He is the proprietor of Media Design Associates.

Diane Smith, B.S.
Ms. Smith is a user interface designer and usability engineer. Her background is in Computer Science, with an emphasis on human-computer interfaces. She also has her own company, Usability Matters.

Jenna Wexler, M.A.
Ms. Wexler is a qualitative researcher with interests in the user interface design of human-computer systems.She also has her own company, Mirador Research.
